Advent Candle Set
We’re joining the anthem and declaring THE SAVIOR IS COMING this advent. Whether you grew up with the traditions of Advent or feel a little stand-offish to the seemingly, “High-church” term, we’re inviting it back into our homes this Christmas and believing for greater revelation as we incorporate the season into our every day in an approachable way.
In addition to our Advent Study, we are celebrating the season with an Advent Wreath— an early church tradition we are incorporating into our modern-day celebration in a beautiful way.
What is an Advent Wreath? We're glad you asked:
The early church created traditions for the Advent season to establish practical handrails to prepare God’s people for the season. One of those traditions was the Advent Wreath. In one sense, the Advent Wreath was very functional— because winter (aka the backdrop of Advent) was the darkest time of year, the candles of the Advent Wreath provided light and comfort in the homes of believers while also pointing them to Jesus, with specific meaning given to each of the five candles in the wreath. The three purple candles of the Advent wreath symbolize hope, peace, and love. These candles are lit on the first, second, and fourth Sundays of Advent. The rose candle, which symbolizes joy, is usually lit on the third Sunday. Finally, the white candle, the Christ candle, represents the person of Jesus and is traditionally lit on Christmas Eve. The candles of the Advent Wreath weren’t the only element that carried meaning though. The evergreen branches that make up the wreath and hold the candles symbolize ongoing life— pointing us to our place in heaven and the truth that our Savior is ALIVE.
Our Advent Wreath Candle set comes with 4 candlesticks and 4 taper candles to act as a companion to our Advent Study. You can choose our beige or black color scheme to match your holiday decor!
